We are a diverse group of individuals with one common goal; to bring the gospel to the local, national and international community while having fun doing so.
There have been many initiatives taken on by the outreach committee over the years; most notably the fund raising efforts for a well to be dug for a small village in Tanzania.
On a lighter note we have hosted several social gatherings including a Valentine’s Day luncheon, and two Royal High Tea events; one in honour of the marriage of Catherine Middleton to Prince William in 2011 and one to mark Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
More recently, through the Scarborough Centre Interfaith Council, we have hosted two Iftar dinners (to break the daily fast) during the season of Ramadan; welcoming both the wider community and our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Through our Deacon’s Pantry Food Bank, each Christmas we run our Christmas Angels program; providing a measure of dignity and joy to those who may otherwise not be able to celebrate Christmas. This can only happen through the generosity of our St Jude’s family, ecumenical partners, and support from the local community.
Prior to Covid-19, our biggest annual event occurs is in the fall. Each October we host our wider community for a Thanksgiving dinner with all “the fixings”. This event has been going on for years and we hope to return to it when gathering to share a meal is permissible.
