“Welcome to the website for St Jude’s, Wexford”.

St Jude’s is a vibrant Anglican parish; serving this area of Toronto since 1848. We strive to be an open and welcoming faith community for any who are looking for a new spiritual home and for those who appreciate the liturgy of the Anglican Church. Especially during these challenging times, I hope you will take the time to see that our cause is hope – each and every day.

The Rev Canon Greg Carpenter

Help Our Group Raise Funds

By Using Gift Cards for Your Everyday Spending

More Information

Do you buy groceries, gas, household items, shop at department stores, do you eat in at restaurants, go to the movies or need gifts for holidays, birthday and special events?

FundScrip is a fundraising program that lets the Church of St. Jude (Wexford) raise much needed funds simply by purchasing gift cards to the stores you are already shopping at.

For example: you purchase a $100 grocery card and you will receive a $100 grocery card and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to the Church of St. Jude (Wexford).

We encourage you to invite your family members, friends, co-workers and neighbours to participate in FundScrip as well. After all, they probably buy groceries and gas just like you do.

How does this work?

1. Download/print form and fill it out with the quantity of cards for each retailer and sum up your order total (there are also printed paper forms available in the office).

2. Payment in 3 modes: Cash, Cheque or E-Transfer (refer to description below).

3. Drop off your payment + filled order form in a labeled + sealed envelope in the secure Mailbox at the Church of St. Jude (wexford).

OR

Submit the filled order form with a note that an E-transfer was sent.

PAYMENT METHODS:

Cheque: Payable to Church of St. Jude (Wexford) with “Fundscrip” mention in memo.

Cash: Exact amount

E-Transfer: treasurer@stjudewexford.ca with “Fundscrip” mention in description.

Monthly mass in Spanish. The next mass in Spanish will be held on Saturday June 1 at 6:00pm. As usual, the mass will be streamed live on Facebook.

Re-Stock the Pantry Food Drive. The nice weather has finally arrived and as we start to plan our summer vacations let us not forget food insecurity will not be taking a break this summer. The growing number of people registered to use our Food Bank testifies to this. Please consider if you may be able to add a few extra items to your shopping for our Deacon’s Pantry Food Bank.

Items most in need include: Tuna, Sardines, Instant Coffee, Sugar, Rice, Pasta Sauce, Chick Peas, and Red Beans.

Community Sale and Fundraiser. On Saturday June 8, we will be holding a larger scale community sale and fundraiser; including a book sale, craft sale, car wash, and BBQ. We will need volunteers to prepare for the day and many helping hands on the day. Sign up sheets are available at the back of the church. Let us know how you can contribute and help us get the word out in the community.

Bible BBQ is returning! Our annual education series with the parish of St Peter & St Simon the Apostle is returning June 11, 18 & 25. Please see the leaflet announcement for locations and time. This year the series is called By Water and the Spirit – looking at the theme of water in Scripture. All are welcome.

Next Generation Ministry: Ignite. Our Deanery Next Generation Ministry is back at St Jude’s! The Wednesday meetings will continue at St Jude’s until June 19). Fridays will be held at Christ Church Scarborough Village. This ministry includes a Youth (grades 7 to 10), a Children’s program (for those in grades 3-6), and a Parent’s Cafe. Spread the word and see you there!

Carpet Bowling: Our Holy Rollers meet on Fridays at 9:45am in the Hall. New members are welcome.

Next Fundscrip. Thanks to everyone who took part in our Fundscrip fundraising effort.  The order has been placed and should be available in the week of June 2.

Free Estate planning available. The Anglican Diocese of Toronto Foundation has partnered with Willfora to offer a free portal to set up a personal will online. This option is particularly applicable to those who have a simple family and financial situation. There is no obligation in how you designate your estate and you can always consult with a licensed lawyer (separately) if you have any questions.

Prayers during the week at St Jude’s. Throughout the year, we live-stream prayer services through Facebook on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in both English and Spanish (they also get linked to the homepage of our website for those not on Facebook).

Exterior Security Cameras. Thanks to a grant from the Federal Government to the Ethiopian Community who worship in our Church Hall, we have been able to install 7 exterior security cameras (and three more in the entrance area they use). The monitoring station is located in the parish office.

Supporting the life and ministry of St Jude’s. As we reengage in what it means to be good stewards of our parish, we thank you for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure as we continue this cause of hope in our Diocese.

Last week we held 7 online services engaging people looking for prayer and connection.  We also provided food to 45 households (representing 127 individuals) with 7 new families registered on Wednesday May 22.  Please contact our parish office (416-755-5872) to make your donation or make your donation online.
